This native dense and prickly deciduous shrub has spiny shoots. It produces masses of beautiful snow white flowers early in the year from February to April on bare branches followed by sloes in the autumn (which can be collected for making sloe gin or brandy).
The leaves appear after the flowers have faded, usually in April.
Our shrubs are normally delivered between 20cm and 35cm tall.
Blackthorn likes
Any soil, and will thrive on quite poor soil.
Growth
It can reach approx 5m (17ft).
