Reed
Phragmites australis
This is a common grass of wetlands and is very dense growing up to 3.5 metres in height. It grows in mud or shallow water and flowers from August to October.
It has flat leaves that taper into a point and are attached to the stem loosely ensuring that all the leaves point in the same direction in the wind.
It is an ideal reed for the creation of reed bed sewerage systems.
